SPUR TREAT

On Monday the 17 May 2021, we were finally able to treat our learners who collected over R 300.00 in the recent voluntary collecting list fundraiser. The learners each received a Spur Burger of their choice and the staff room was set up for these achievers. This was indeed a pleasure and the learners thoroughly enjoyed themselves.

SHARK EDUCATION TRUST VISIT

On Tuesday the 18th of May, Shark Education Trust spent an hour with our grade 3 learners doing a presentation about ocean conservation as part of Life Skills. Due to the pandemic we were unfortunately not able to take the learners to the beach which would have been the ideal so that learners could experience the beauty of ocean life. One of the values of the school is the value of respect, we are ensuring that our learners who reside in an area very close to the beach are sensitised to the beauty and wonders of the ocean. The shark education trust partnered with the school in 2020. The Trust also donated boxes of copy paper  during the height of the pandemic to offset the copying costs incurred by the school. See picture below.

DELTA SHOE DRIVE

Staff members are painfully aware of the consistent need for school shoes by many of vulnerable learners. As part of the shoe -drive the community outreach committee which is spearheaded by teachers of Delta Primary has consistently come to the rescue of these vulnerable learners. Tuesday the 18th of May marked the “kick-off“ of this special outreach. A group of 15 learners were recipients of this special outreach campaign. The pair of shoes fulfill the need of ensuring the learner who walks to school can be comfortable, but it also restores dignity to learners who otherwise would often stay at home due to the lack of proper shoes. We thank thank the group and wish them much success over the life of this project.
