ROTATIONAL ATTENDANCE AND LEARNER ABSENCE

We wish to encourage learners and parents to make a concerted attempt to re-establish routines to ensure that learners experience structure during the academic year. During our engagement with learners, we note with concern that many learners are tired and lethargic, in part due to retiring to bed far too late during the school week. Please assist in this regard by managing their attachment and fixation to social media, movies, and games so that they have a reasonably balanced school week. Learners must arrive at school on time, an increasing percentage of learners arrive after the bell has rung. Learners are also reminded that on the remaining days when they are not at school, they are required to complete required tasks and homework (self-directed study and learning). We are cognizant of the challenge that this added responsibility places on the household and the strain that parents are experiencing. Learner absenteeism on a weekly basis is a worrisome trend and must be addressed by the concerned parent . As parents, we are tasked with the responsibility to ensure a bright future for our children even during this unusual context.

FUNDRAISING

During the month of September, we will engage in our term fundraising event. Generating funds still remains a huge part of our operations as the pandemic has had a negative impact on the school’s financial resources. We wish to appeal to all our parents to contribute willingly to all fundraisers as you have done in the past. This is to ensure that we are able to continue the standards of education delivery as we have experienced in the past.

OUTREACH

We are happy to report that identified learners have once again received a brand new pair of school shoes handed over during the course of the week. This is due to the commitment of staff members as they go beyond the call of duty to improve the lives of the learners in their class. We thank our teachers for this continued outreach of which our learners are the recipients.

CONDOLENCES

The entire Delta Primary community express their sincere condolences after receiving the sad news of the passing of,  Mr. Michael Henry ( retired principal of Delta Primary) and Mrs. Chantal Jurius ( previous secretary). These previous staff members have over tenure contributed so much to the school. We extend our deepest sympathy to the bereaved family and wish them much strength during these challenging times.

GRADE 7 ENROLMENT

During the course of this week, the schools in our area were alerted to the challenge of grade 7 learners who currently are not enrolled at a high school for 2022. I wish to make this urgent appeal to parents of all grade 7 learners, to please ensure that grade 8 registration for 2022 is concluded soonest.
