The regular attendance of learners has been aerated over many newsletters and on various platforms which include parent meetings and class Whatsapp groups. The absentee rate in term one was 12 % and in term 2 it was 18 %. As of April, this year teachers have recorded the total number of learners per class who have attended 100 % for the month. The data reveals that not a singular class was able to record 100% attendance for the month. The data also reveals that less than 50% of the learners were able to attend 100 % of the time. The data is alarming and cause for serious concern. The consistent non-attendance of learners who ought to be present at school is creating a barrier to learning which can be mitigated by parents. We must ensure that learners are at school when they are required to be here. WE WISH TO APPEAL TO ALL OUR PARENTS TO ENSURE ALL LEARNERS ARE PRESENT FOR THE FULL 5 DAY SCHOOL WEEK.

The school uniform remains the pride of the school. It creates a sense of belonging and gives us a sense of pride. Our foundation learners have responded to this call in the vast majority. We do note with concern that far too many senior learners are dressed in different color hoodies and takkies while their uniform is amiss. Some of the learner`s uniforms require to be stitched and repaired due to daily usage. Parents, please assist in this regard. It would be so fantastic to see all our learners neatly dressed in school uniform as prescribed in the code of conduct.

During term 2, we introduced the prefect system as a platform to develop the leadership skills of our grade 7 learners. It is with a sense of pride that we report on the success of the program. These young leaders will over the next few months become more noticeable on the school playground as they assist with maintaining harmony on the school playground. We call on all to give them your full support.

The month of August is senior appreciation month. It is an opportunity to express gratitude to all seniors, many of whom have shown us how to live a better life.
