FOUNDATION PHASE SPELLING BEE

While our Intersen learners were engaged in their formal assessments this week, our Foundation Phase learners participated in an exciting Spelling Bee.

Grade R learners were tested on their sounds, while Grades 1–3 worked from grade-appropriate word lists. The learners thoroughly enjoyed the experience, engaging enthusiastically as the quiz master challenged them to spell a variety of words. The purpose of introducing the Spelling Bee is to strengthen learners’ vocabulary, empower them to construct new sentences, and broaden their language skills in a fun and interactive way.

SCHOOL UNIFORM AND GENERAL DRESS CODE (GRADES 3–7)

Dear Parents, we appeal to you to kindly ensure that learners arrive at school dressed in the correct school uniform. Increasingly, we have observed learners wearing expensive branded takkies, hoodies, and casual tops—items which often cost far more than a full school uniform.

In addition, some learners continue to come to school with torn shirts, trousers, or tracksuit pants. We ask that these items be repaired or replaced. A neat, standard uniform not only instils pride but also creates a sense of equality among all learners.

Yes, UNIFORM MATTERS!

BATTSWOOD ARTS SHOWCASE

Since the beginning of 2025, our Grade 7 learners have been attending the Battswood Art Centre in Grassy Park, where they have been exposed to dramatic arts, visual arts, and music. We are proud to announce the learners selected to represent Delta Primary at the upcoming Arts Showcase on Friday, 26 September 2025:

  • Grade 7A: Phoebe English, Khloe Watson, Kelsey Beaton, Tyler van der Merwe, Jody Martin, Kaylene Louw

  • Grade 7B: Zuhayr Williamson

Tickets are available at R40 each from the school or through the drama teacher. Please note that the final date for ticket sales is Thursday, 25 September 2025. No tickets will be sold at the door, so we encourage parents to purchase them in advance.
