WELCOME BACK
We warmly welcome all learners and staff members back following the winter break. As we settle into the chilly days of the season, we’re reminded of the joys that winter brings—hot chocolate, cosy family moments, and much-needed rest. We trust that you’ve enjoyed quality time with your children and extended family over the break.
Term 3 officially began on 22 July 2025, and we have one clear goal: to improve learning outcomes. As parents and guardians, your involvement remains a vital part of this journey.

LEARNER ABSENTEEISM – A MAJOR BARRIER TO LEARNING
Dear Parents, in line with our academic improvement efforts, we have reviewed learner attendance data. Unfortunately, this review revealed concerning patterns—a significant number of learners across both foundation and senior phases have accumulated 20 or more days of absence since Term 1.
This is alarming. It creates a divide between learners who regularly attend school and those who don’t—despite both groups having access to the same quality education. Unsurprisingly, those with high absenteeism are at serious risk of falling behind academically.
We urge all parents to reflect on the long-term consequences of frequent absenteeism and to take proactive steps to support consistent school attendance.
ACADEMIC IMPROVEMENT PLANS
We are committed to ensuring that all learners achieve their academic potential. As part of our strategy, we have implemented the following:
- Participation in the MCO (Maths Online) Programme
- Review of Term 2 Formal Assessments
- Tracking Individual Learner Progress
- Implementation of Academic Improvement Plans at Grade & Class Levels
- Friday: Maths & Language Test Days
These initiatives reflect our dedication to academic excellence. However, high absenteeism will unfortunately undermine all our efforts.
