COMPLETION OF LEARNER WAITING AREA
We are pleased to report that the waiting area for learners has finally been completed. This completed project will afford our learners the dignity of waiting undercover for their transport and parents after school has been dismissed. In the past learners would wait in the rain and be drenched due to bad weather conditions. This will no longer be the experience for our learners.

It is however very important to note that all parents must ensure that their learners are collected at the correct dismissal times. Oftentimes foundation phase and senior learners are left at school after the official learner dismissal times. This is not a good practice and we require all our parents to commit to ensure transport service providers are held accountable.
FOUNDATION PHASE CONCERT
The foundation phase learners have been practicing their moves and they are extremely excited to present their items to their parents and the audience at large. For the purpose of clarification, learners in the intersen phase who are not part of the Foundation Phase concert are required to pay the entry fee if they are in attendance on the night of 5 September. Similarly, Foundation Phase learners who are in attendance on the night of the Intersen Phase concert will pay the entry fee.
Tuck shop items, hot chips, vienna and chips, cold drinks will all be on sale.
Doors open at 5 pm and parents may take their seats from 5 pm. The foundation phase concert starts promptly at 6.00 pm. Learners are required to be at school by 05.00 pm. Class teachers will communicate any special requirements within the class groups.
FORMAL ASSESSMENT WEEK COMMENCES
Learners commence class tests and assessment as we enter into the final weeks of term 3.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
When you have an attitude of altitude, and when you are grateful for what you have, your chances to have a meaningful and successful life are greater. Start where you are now to develop this mindset. You have the potential to do many things, even those things you may think are impossible. Broaden your vision and keep moving forward-the sky truly is the limit. – Earl Nightingale

DELIVERY OF FOOD TO SENIOR HOME
It is with a deep sense of accomplishment that Iam able to report that we delivered a consignment of food that was collected during Mandela month to the senior home in Montagu Village. The consignment was received by Mrs Valencia the director of the senior home. She expressed deep gratitude for the blessing, and as she has always done, will put the consignment to good use for the benefit of the seniors in the home.Parents, boys and girls what an excellent job we have done !

GRADE 3 PROJECTS
What a beautiful sight it was walking through the school foyer this week and observing the solar system models designed and created by the parents and learners in grade 3. The quality and effort that went into the individual designs was absolutely amazing. All the parents must certainly receive a code 7 for effort!!! The teachers express their thanks and appreciation for your commitment to quality.

SCHOOL UNIFORM AND GENERAL DRESS CODE OF LEARNERS IN GRADE 4-7
Dear parents, Iam appealing to all our parents to please ensure that our learners are dressed in proper school uniform when they arrive at school.Far too many of our learners are wearing expensive takkies, hoodies and tops, which are far more expensive than a set of good school uniform. A number of learners are still coming to school with torn shirts, trousers, tracksuit pants etc., please repair the clothing.Yes, UNIFORM MATTERS !
CONCERT DATES
Concert tickets for both the Foundation Phase and the Intersen Phase are on sale @ R25 for children (yellow ticket) and R50 for adults (blue ticket). The learner who collects the most tickets will be awarded a music box, which was so kindly donated by one of our service providers.TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE TO SECURE TICKETS BEFORE THE RUSH STARTS !
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
Thoughts → Feelings → Actions → Results.
This is one of the most commonly known laws, however I want you to refine how you use it.
Practice being aware of how you’re FEELING at any given moment. If you’re feeling bad, recognize it’s because you’re having negative thoughts. Then quickly change what you’re thinking about so that your vibration shifts to a more positive state.
The fastest way to do that is to practice gratitude. Expressing gratitude instantly shifts your feeling, which puts you in vibrational harmony with your source of supply so that the good in everything moves toward you.
Practice just those two things for a week and I’m sure you’ll see your life start to shift

COMMENCEMENT OF FORMAL ASSESSMENTS
Homework, completing assignments and preparing for tests are absolutely crucial for academic success. We detect with concern that the ethos of completing homework, studying for tests and submitting assignments remain a challenge for a large component of our learners in all grades.
The ethos of hard work must be instilled in all our learners. The pursuit for academic excellence must be in the conscience of every child at Delta Primary.
In this regard we ask all our parents to remind their children of the reason for attending school, as we will do the same while the learners are at school.
It is class test times for learners in grade 4-7. Parents should check the assessment program issued to them at the beginning of the term. If you have not received a copy of the assessment program, message teachers and inquire to receive an updated copy as a matter of urgency. Its go to bed early, and to study for tests for all learners. Please assist in this regard.
FOOD GARDEN WORKSHOP
Delta Primary has been the beneficiary of many wonderful partnerships over many years. Our recent partnership with Food and Trees for Africa has led to training and support being made available to our resident gardener Betty Daniels. Thanks to the partnership the school has been afforded full support to ensure that the garden remains sustainable over the winter season and also into the spring season. Below a picture of Mrs. Betty Daniels and Mrs. Connie with Alex (the Representative of Food and Trees for Africa)

VACANT SPACES IN GRADE R
Parents in the community who have not secured a place for their Grade R child must contact the school as soon as possible as we have limited space in the GR R class for 2025. Parents who are struggling to complete the online application may approach the school, admin staff will communicate the relevant documentation needed as well as to assist you with the online process. PLEASE SHARE THIS INFORMATION AS WIDELY AS POSSIBLE.
CONCERT DATES
Concert tickets for both the Foundation Phase and the Intersen Phase are on sale @ R25 for children (yellow ticket) and R50 for adults (blue ticket). The learner who collects the most tickets will be awarded a music box, which was so kindly donated by one of our service providers.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

MANDELA DAY OUTREACH
We are pleased to report that on Wednesday the 7 August 2024 teachers were able to deliver the non perishable items to the Douglas Murray Home in Cafda. We were received by Mrs Wheeler who extended her thanks and appreciation to all the learners and parents for their kind gesture. Regrettably due to the violence in Montagu we were unable to complete both deliveries on the same day. We have therefore resolved to complete the delivery once the situation is calm in Montagu. We will update via pictures once the delivery is completed to the senior home in Montagu. We extend thanks to all parents for their support in this Mandela project.

GRADE R PROJECTS
Below are the wonderful pictures of the projects completed by parents and learners of the Grade R cohort.

LEARNER ATTENDANCE
It is extremely important that all our learners accept that regular school attendance is vital in order to consistently improve academically. We wish to highlight that all learners must be at school for the 5 days as required by the SASA. We are also aware that certain actions must be followed in order to enhance the process of learning throughout the child’s school career.
- Regular checking and signing of books and completion of homework and assignments.
- Ensuring that learners get to bed on time.
- Ensuring that learners arrive at school on time.
- Ensuring positive communication between parent and teacher.
- Interacting with the teacher on academic matters.
- Ensuring that learners are well groomed on a daily basis.
- Reminding our children that school and learning is an important part of developing into a citizen that can contribute positively to our society.
LEARNER ATTENDANCE
We are in the heart of Winter with chills on a daily basis. We make the following appeal and recommendations
- Learners who are displaying flu symptoms in the morning, vomiting or have upset stomachs must be retained at home and taken to the doctor. Learners must then return after they are healthy again. Teachers are not allowed to administer medication to learners. Learners are often sent to school only to be collected an hour later due to their illness, please assist in this regard.
- Many learners walk to school and arrive soaked due to the rain. Let’s consider having some extra clothes so that learners can change into dry clothes when they arrive at school.
- All learners need a raincoat to keep their clothes dry.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY
When life knocks you down, try to land on your back. Because if you can look up, you can get up. Let your reason get you back up. – Les Brown
